Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was then a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has been a panelist, as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first journalist to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
